About Laurie
For nearly twenty years as a practicing attorney, Laurie Giles represented and guided hundreds of clients through life transitions including divorce, elder planning, estate planning. Although she found my work professionally challenging and personally rewarding Ms. Giles Laurie felt a sense of discontent at the end of many cases; she felt her clients needed more than mere resolution of legal issues.
Ms. Giles enjoyed professional success and personal contentment from her work. But in 2006 something changed she began to feel out of sync, professional success was no longer accompanied by personal contentment. In a particularly contentious divorce case, the estranged husband grew so tired of Ms. Giles hardnosed negotiations, he simply walked away giving her client the family home free-and-clear. At first, it seemed to be a terrific win, after the divorce was finalized, however, her client took her own life because she didn't know how to redefine herself as a single woman and find happiness. During that same time period, Ms. Giles won her biggest trial ever; her client was awarded an unprecedented 87% of the marital assets. Another professional success. Once again her personal contentment was questioned when her client explained that she wasnt happy with the settlement because her husband had been her life. She had no idea how to start over and felt she would die of a broken heart. Four months later, in fact, she passed away. It was then Laurie realized, her feeling that her clients needed more, was right on point. She wanted to do more than just resolve legal issues. Laurie made it her personal life mission to educate and guide women through challenging transitions and find happiness at the end of the process.
Her personal life experiences as a divorced, single mother and the daughter of aging parent have given her great understanding of the emotions and fears associated with changing roles enabling her to truly empathize with her clients. She Gets it.
As a transition/ redefining life coach Laurie is able to guide her clients to develop a plan to get through the practicalities of the transition, redefine themselves in their changing roles and create the life they dream of.
